HSE Advisor - 8/6
Location:
Perth WA, Australia
Job Type:
Permanent Full Time
You know safety isn’t a slogan. It’s how you show up.
If you’re the kind of HSE pro who’d rather be in steel-caps on the drill pad than polishing PowerPoints in head office, this one’s for you.
The role in a nutshell
- HSE Advisor – DIDO 8/6 - roving role
- Ex‑Perth or Kalgoorlie
- Up to $150k + super + tool‑of‑trade vehicle
- Major exploration drilling contractor with triple ISO systems, real‑time safety data and a genuine “protect our people, deliver for our clients” mindset.
- You’ll be the go‑to HSE partner for field crews and leaders, making sure they hit their metres without cutting corners, and turning “compliance” into something that actually helps them get home safe, every swing. You’ll be out on site, boots dirty, asking the awkward questions and fixing problems before someone gets hurt.
On any given day, you might:
- Stand shoulder‑to‑shoulder with offsiders and drillers building risk assessments that make sense in the real world, not just in a manual.
- Run pre‑starts and toolbox talks that people stay for because they’re useful, not because they have to be there.
- Use a live safety platform to log incidents, ICAMs and corrective actions, so issues get closed out, not buried.
- Do safety audits on drilling equipment when on site, and no, you don't need to be an engineer. This is where a sharp eye for detail & experience comes into play
- Jump between rigs and sites, coaching leaders on critical risk, emergency readiness and what “safety first” actually looks like in a production environment.
- You’ll have modern systems behind you – triple ISO‑certified management, structured training and a business that funds proper controls rather than hoping for the best.
The kind of human who will thrive here:
This will suit someone who is calm under pressure, commercially aware and wired to care deeply about people – but who can still say “stop” and mean it when the job isn’t safe.
You’re likely the person who:
- Notices the small things everyone else walks past – a missing tag, a tired offsider, a rushed change‑out – and can’t leave it alone.
- Can sit with a driller, a client rep and a GM on the same day and speak each of their languages without changing who you are.
- Believes data is there to drive better decisions – from trend analysis to targeted training – not to tick a box.
- Has the resilience to cop pushback, stay respectful, but hold the line when safety is on the line.
- If your natural setting is “firm, fair and has your back”, you’ll fit right in.
What you bring:
- You DON'T need 20 years and a PhD. You do need to know your stuff and back yourself.
- At least 2 years in an HSE role in mining, drilling or similar heavy industry.
- Experience with ICAM / 5‑Whys, incident investigations and hazard ID that leads to real change, not just more paperwork.
- Solid grounding in risk management, HAZOP‑style thinking and critical control verification.
- Confidence with HSE systems and the usual Microsoft tools – you’re comfortable in digital safety platforms and spreadsheets.
- You’ve delivered training, run audits and are used to working fairly autonomously to meet deadlines and targets.
Why is this swing worth it?
- Strong base salary, super and tool‑of‑trade vehicle.
- 8/6 roster that gives you real recovery time, not just a quick reset.
- A business that genuinely invests in safety leadership, training and career growth, not just banners and posters.
- An inclusive team with a clear commitment to diversity and community impact in the regions they operate in.
If you want to be the person the crew trusts when it matters – and you’re ready to help lift safety standards, not just maintain them – we’d like to talk.
