THE WHO, THE WHAT AND THE WHERE

Work for an incredibly successful family business with a diverse range of high-quality wine products that appeal to a broad market. The portfolio includes handcrafted wines from the South West and the Great Southern regions. Their success is built on the collaboration of generations of passionate winemakers, resulting in the production of some amazing wines that focus on the regional strengths of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay from Margaret River to pristine Riesling from the Great Southern, , they have truly mastered the art of wine-making in WA. All-in-all, you will have around 100-110 product lines to learn in-depth (which obviously means getting stuck into some great wines!)

Whilst in the office, you can enjoy a collaborative atmosphere in a gorgeous CBD-fringe setting – spacious offices with plenty of space to take time out, or enjoy the sunset from the terrace. As you’d expect as a Sales Manager, however, the bulk of the role, (and about 80% of your time) will be spent getting out there, meeting with your various clients in the On Trade and Fine Wine Retail and ensuring they have everything they need to be able to confidently sell your products. The role works across all sales channels, including supporting the company's National Account priorities. Expect to work in a defined territory and visit around 6-7 customers a day.

Not just ‘pushing product’; your role is to educate sellers and develop relationships with them to become brand ambassadors, and interact directly with consumers.

Everyone wants to run events these days, (especially in summer) and competition in the WA wine market is fierce – so these wines need to be in the mix! Events are coordinated and run by the talented marketing team, but you will play a key role in creating and implementing the brand marketing and sales strategies to promote the products.

Back at the office, your role is integral in connecting the sales and marketing teams – supporting aligned strategies, taking the pressure off for events, and working together in unity to support each other’s efforts.
Provided you are personable, you will find that most customers really enjoy seeing you (you have products they like after all!)

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

We are looking first and foremost for someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about wine. You must be available to work evenings and weekends quite often - but of course, you will be given plenty of time off to compensate for this. Other things that will excite us:
- Strong commercial acumen within wine sales and distribution with a proven track record of successfully managing a sales pipeline coupled with the ability to drive results in a budget-driven environment.
- A self-motivator, it’s a highly autonomous role and you have the freedom to define your day so this is a must
- Charisma and emotional intelligence to boot! We need the kind of person who people instinctively like and trust because you are authentic, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the product.
- You need to understand inventory systems, merchandising, delivery schedules, buyer behaviour and all the moving parts of FMCG distribution and sales.
- A high level of integrity and flexibility
- Analytical mind and results-focused
- Polished presentation

In terms of required licencing and qualifications, you absolutely must have a valid driver’s licence, and as you will be serving alcohol, if you don’t have one, you will need to be able to obtain and maintain a valid RSA.
