Labourer/ Trade Assistant
Location:
Pilbara, WA, Australia
Job Type:
Casual/Vacation
If you’re the sort of person who actually likes getting stuck into demolition and construction, not just leaning on a shovel, this one’s for you.
Join a crew helping rip out and rebuild camp rooms at Roy Hill, keeping one of WA’s biggest mine sites running and its people housed.
The gig
On a 2/1 FIFO roster from Perth, you’ll fly into Roy Hill and spend your days helping carpenters, sparkies and plumbers demolish, rebuild and upgrade accommodation buildings in the village.
It’s a casual role, 12-hour day shifts, paying $51.00 flat per hour on a 9‑month assignment – plenty of time to smash some savings goals.
What you’ll be doing
- Demolition and construction of camp rooms and associated buildings.
- Operating forklifts and telehandlers to move materials and waste around site.
- Loading, unloading and moving building materials so the tradies can keep swinging hammers, not chasing pallets.
- Assisting with hands-on construction and demolition tasks as directed by carpenters, electricians and plumbers.
- Handling site logistics and waste so the village doesn’t look like a tip.
- General site clean-up and housekeeping, with a big focus on safety and OHS.
What you’ll bring
- Solid experience in demolition, construction and/or site logistics.
- Comfortable with physically demanding, outdoors work in a remote mining environment.
- A “can do” attitude, willingness to muck in and follow instructions, and a strong safety mindset.
- Essential tickets, licences and checks:
- Perth-based – FIFO from Perth only.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- Forklift Licence.
- Telehandler ticket/licence.
- White Card.
- National Police Clearance.
- Ability to pass a mine site pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.
Why people do FIFO
- Money: Strong hourly rate plus long shifts means your savings can jump quickly.
- Lifestyle: Work hard for two weeks, then have a full week off to do life your way.
- Set-up: Modern camps with meals, your own room and facilities to make swings more comfortable.
