Draftsperson

Location:

Perth WA, Australia

Job Type:

Permanent Full Time

If you love clean drawings, clear standards and being the go‑to for "is this right?", this role is built for you.

About the role
Joining a tight-knit engineering team plus two other drafters, you'll take concepts and design briefs and turn them into clear, detailed drawings that projects can rely on. You'll work closely with project managers and engineers, asking the right questions up front so construction and manufacturing teams get what they need, first time.

What you'll be doing
- Producing detailed drawings, plans and schematics using CAD software, with a primary focus on MicroStation.
- Interpreting engineering sketches, specifications and design briefs to create accurate technical documentation.
- Collaborating with engineers, project managers and site teams to make sure drawings align with project requirements, codes and standards.
- Managing drawing revisions, maintaining records and ensuring strong version control and document management.
- Supporting site and construction teams with drawing clarifications, updates and mark-ups as projects progress.
- Participating in design reviews and contributing ideas to streamline drafting processes and improve documentation quality.

An example of a week...
Could see you updating a set of drawings after a design review, issuing revised IFC documentation, and then jumping onto a call with a site supervisor to clarify details before work starts on the ground.

About you
You're a detail-driven Draftsperson who takes pride in neat, consistent drawings and clear documentation. You're comfortable asking questions, pushing for clarity and working with multiple stakeholders to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.

You'll bring:
- Solid experience as a Draftsperson (at least 2 years), ideally in engineering, construction or manufacturing.
- Strong CAD skills across AutoCAD and/or MicroStation – experience with MicroStation is a must, as it is the primary tool used in this role.
- A Certificate or Diploma in Drafting, Engineering Design or a related discipline.
- The ability to interpret technical information and turn it into clear, buildable drawings.
- Good communication skills and experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with document control systems, drawing registers and industry standards and codes.

The offer
- Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 + super (depending on experience).
- Hours: 7:00am-3:00pm, with some flexibility.
- Location: Perth-based office with on-site parking.
- Process: Two-stage interview with the hiring team; Itch has the exclusive brief and will guide you through each step.
