THE WHO, THE WHAT AND THE WHERE 

Our client is a well respected, communications technology provider based 10 minutes north of the Perth CBD, who offer tailored solutions to heavy industry and commercial sectors including construction, resources, health, and transportation. They are currently looking for a highly experienced Communications Technician to work at a senior level.

WHAT’S INVOLVED? 

Based out of Perth, this role will have occasion travel to site requiring short FI/FO work but l don’t want this to get in the way of job satisfaction and the ability to join this high performing team. So let's talk about the nitty gritty because let’s face it we all want to know what our days will look like in a new role! 
 
Technical; 

  • Project work and maintenance utilising various radio technologies such as analogue, DMR, TETRA infrastructure and subscribers. 

  • Ability to execute all project works and maintenance for radio networks, CCTV, PAGA, telephony and IP networks. 

  • Experience with complex system integration, design, planning, implementation, and evaluation. 

  • Managing acceptance and release of conforming products, and taking appropriate action to address any non-conformances  

  • Ability to perform repair and service work on equipment when necessary 

  • Client liaison and high level customer service resulting in long term relationships and follow on work. 

  • Scheduling and prioritisation of technical resources for planned and unplanned work as well as the roster schedule for the Duty Tech to meet the commitments to internal and external clients. 

  • Daily toolbox meetings with the technical services team to set direction and ensure all materials, equipment and all information is available to technicians to perform their assigned jobs. 

  • Creation and maintenance of technical services department procedures as required. 

  • Creation and maintenance of PMI procedures and schedule. 

  • Management of programming and testing of radios and maintenance of code plugs. 

  • Identification and development of training programs for the technical services team. 

  • Mentorship of technical services team members, striving to develop a high-performance, agile team. 

  • Working with other branch teams to ensure a thorough technical response to requirements within requests for information, bids and tenders. 

  Administrative and Team Support: 

  • Preparation of documents as required for implementation plans, site assessments / surveys, and reports (internal and external). 

  • Maintenance of general workshop housekeeping and stock levels 

  • Assistance with organisation and coordination of work activities in the workshop including rack building and testing of systems as required. 

  • Maintenance of technical equipment, calibration register and tools required by the Technical Services Manager including vehicles. 

  • Supervision of junior technical resources including apprentices and trainees where required 

  • Attendance to meetings, training sessions and events where required 

  • Site work as required to back-fill resource shortages within the national technical services team. 

  • Working closely with technical service teams in other branches, sharing resources as and when required. 

  • Communicating and planning resource needs with the Technical Services Manager. 

  • Provide feedback to Management for performance reviews of the Technical Services Department. 

  
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? 

This is a role for a senior-level technician who knows how to lead but also isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty. You must be able to articulate your recommendations and needs to all stakeholders in a clear and well thought-out manner. We are looking for someone who is a team-player; someone who wants to become a part of the team and actively contribute to building and maintaining a great company culture. You will also need: 

  • Certificate III or higher in electronics engineering, RF engineering or related fields of study 

  • Other role-related licences and registrations as required  

  • Strong technical knowledge of the following radio and telecommunications equipment: 

  • P25, TETRA, and DMR radio equipment  

  • Radio Spectrum 

  • Network based radio systems 

  • Knowledge of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) regulatory landscape 

  • Hold current high risk licence and have confidence working at heights, with EWPs and climbing tower 

  • Proven success in technical role 

  • Wireless, IP networking, PAGA, telephony and microwave experience is highly desirable
